December 8, 2019
Season's Greetings this frosty morn! Temperatures dipped below zero last night, but luckily, we have more than 2' of snow keeping the ground well insulated. Ralph's bird feeders are full and the trees are filled with woodpeckers, juncos, titmouses, chickadees, cardinals, jays, and BLUEBIRDS!!
I could sit here all day watching them, but there's work to be done! I've been busy in the kitchen every day putting up preserves and sending out holiday gifts for folks, and I realized I should get in touch with everybody about holiday ordering.
The last day for placing orders to arrive by Christmas is December 18. That said, jars are flying out of here and we are down to our last six jars of Blueberry Preserve, and we're also very low on Strawberry Preserve and Black Currant Preserve, so if these are your favorites, please let me know now.
TINY PIE HOUSE is open for the season through New Year's Eve! (We actually don't have any pies in there this weekend because we've been so busy putting up preserves there wasn't a free day for pie baking.) But, beginning next week, I'll be baking PattiPies (5" pies) on Fridays, and I'll take orders for large pies to be picked up on the weekends. Deadline for large pies is on Wednesday nights. Crowd favorite is Triple Berry (Raspberry, Blackberry and Blueberry) but I'll make any combination of these 3, or any single flavor. I bake in Pyrex so these are larger and heavier than a typical 9" pie baked in foil - a full pound of berries in every pie - and are $17.00 plus a $3.00 deposit on the Pyrex pie plate. (I don't really care if I get the plate back - if you choose to keep it you've bought a nice plate at a really good price!) If you follow our Facebook or Instagram feed, you'll know that these are beautiful too, decorated with stars, hearts, unicorns, dragons, etc. Oh yes, and organic flour, organic sugar, and an all-butter crust...One customer from the Thanksgiving pie extravaganza wrote me "OMG the BEST PIE EVER!!!"
I guess that's all the news I needed to say... Abbey is snoring in the sun at my feet, Ralph is tending the fire in the cellar, and I'm headed to the kitchen to get started putting up another four batches of Seedless Blackberry Preserve.
Wishing you all Comfort and Joy!
