Lavender Mustard with Wildflower Honey
This is the mustard that won Yankee Magazine’s “Best Condiment” in 2015 .
A wonderful aroma is the hallmark of this special mustard. The lavender lingers on the palate for a moment, surprising most people who taste it.
Lavender mustard was once quite a popular artisanal mustard in rural France, although it is largely unknown here.
Long beds of lavender on our sunny hillside provide the flavor for this aromatic treat, sweetened with a little wildflower honey. Best enjoyed simply with pretzels and hors d'oeuvres, it's also nice with crusty bread and cheese or blended into dipping sauce for vegetables.
During asparagus season, we like to mix it with a bit of yogurt to serve alongside this ephemeral delight.
